Like our mother used to say: “when you don’t feel good, put on an extra pretty dress; everyone will tell you that you look great… and you’ll have a better day!”
On that thought – I had an inspiring philosophical discussion with one of our clients the other day. The young woman had just tried Instalip (our signature lip-enhancing injection) for the first time – actually it was her first experience of a medical aesthetic treatment ever! We started discussing the fact that she loved the result and felt incredibly better about herself. She confided in me, explaining how she had gone through a difficult year and felt the need to take care of her looks, in an attempt to raise her spirits and heighten her mood.
I happily told her that The Polla Family’s mantra, inspired by Plato, had always been that “looking good means feeling good means doing good”. Her demeanor changed instantly, as if she had finally found someone who understood her first step towards aesthetic medicine. She later admitted that probably none of her friends would understand her approach.
Thinking about it, I still wonder why some people feel that taking care of their appearance is vain or shallow… as if it was less important than doing sports, eating well or not drinking or smoking too much. To the contrary! I went on to explain, I am convinced that our outer beauty is a reflection of our inner self and that both are linked! She agreed…
We went on to discuss how, even if the definition of beauty differs from one person to another, feeling like the best version of yourself makes you shine and helps you project an image of someone who is confident, appealing and strong. And from there, you will positively influence the world and make it a better, happier place!
